Brief: A lawyer, who was the honorary secretary of the sixth Management Council (MC) of Casa Merah, has failed in a defamation suit against another Council Member after a judge found the Council Member justified in taking issue over the lawyer’s competence. The Council Member had allegedly sent a defamatory email sent to 14 recipients, taking issue with the minutes of the MC meeting. The District Judge Tan May Tee found the Council Member vindicated by the inaccuracies in the minutes and accepted that she had a duty to raise the issue. The lawyer had also lost a second libel suit last month to the Council Member over a complaint she made to the Law Society which he alleged defamed him.
